Things kinda ho hum here. I got Keeper's program for rehab and have started him back on it. Pretty conservative but that's fine with me.

Week #1

Up to 60 minutes total of trotting either on the treadmill 3-5 times a week. This will continue throughout Keeper’s re-conditioning program and beyond.

Short retrieves
Use a tennis ball or other favorite toy that Keeper will retrieve. Either hold him by the collar or place him in a “sit/stay”. Throw the toy a distance of 6-8 feet away and release him to retrieve it. Throw in a straight line only.
Frequency: Once a day
Repetitions: Begin with 10, increasing to 20 over 2 week

Week #2

Continue retrieves; increase distance up to 20 feet. Begin throwing at an angle in each direction from Keeper’s sit/stay position (up to 45˚).

Jump grid
Set 6 jumps at a height of 12”, 8 feet apart. Set a toy or treat past the last jump as a target. You can either release Keeper to do the jump grid independently or run with him.
Frequency: Every other day
Repetitions: Begin with 2 reps per session, adding one rep per session to a total of 10

The first jump grid I set up at the barn I thought that Keeper was going to literally jump out of his skin. He was so excited!!! And then two reps and it was over. I did the retrieves and then put him up. He's like WTF!!!!

It is tempting to want to do more stuff with him. He's so willing but I have to restrain...to refrain. And it's also hard because I had setup a private with someone for next weekend and all I'm going to get to do is audit and watch my other friends who are going run their dogs. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get a lot out of it but it's more fun to be able to run my little Keeper man.

Soon....I know soon.
